Though I've been curious about film history for a really long time, I've only really started to explore it in the past year or so - basically, this means that I am flailing around trying to catch up like an insane person.

There's a couple of genres and eras I'm especially into (silent film, European '30s film and American pre-codes, German expressionist film, any early film containing awesome kickass ladies), and besides this I also have a disturbing tendency to become completely obsessed with one particular thing for a few months or so, before letting that fade into the background of Things I Like and, after a while, finding a new obsession - the last object of my affections was Peter Lorre, and currently I am all about Bollywood (and, if we're going to be particular, Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan).

I also try to catch up on my viewing of all of those Very Classic Classic Films, but sadly I'm not doing too well - I have a strange and not entirely practical habit of skipping anything in the film history canon and going straight for the weird obscure ones that nobody's really interested in except me. I am slowly getting around to including more classic films in my program, though! I'm also hoping to learn more about world cinema, because right now all of my knowledge about film is hella Eurocentric. Not cool self!
